“SHARK MOUTH” – Thanks and Final Farewell (1993-2025)
A familiar corner of Hanoi, about to say goodbye…
The iconic “Shark Mouth” building, located in the heart of the Old Quarter, will be demolished by April 30th to make way for the new face of Tokyo Gakuen Square. This place will take on a new mission – to become a transportation plaza, smoothly connecting the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, and the main traffic arteries of the capital.

For over 30 years, “Shark Mouth” has not only been a building but also a place where countless Hanoians have left precious memories. Dates, gatherings, coffee by the window, overlooking the bustling crowds, enjoying the lively scenes of the pedestrian street every weekend… all of this will become a part of everyone’s memory.

But Hanoi is always changing. The city is ever-renewing, and so are we.
💙 A farewell, a thank you… then, welcoming the new things ahead.
It’s sad to see such an iconic building go, but planning a meaningful farewell is a great idea. The “Shark Mouth” will always be remembered, even as the area evolves.
