After a swift one-and-a-half-hour direct flight, Mac and I touched down in the enchanting city of Da Nang for a brief getaway. Often compared to Phuket or Sanya as a more budget-friendly option, we found Da Nang to be a destination that offers so much more. The journey is quick, the accommodations and flights are remarkably affordable, the hotel rooms are spacious, and the pristine white sand beaches with crystal-clear waters are a sight to behold—so clean and uncrowded that it feels like a private paradise.

For our first two nights, we decided to stay at the luxurious Marriott Resort & Spa. This area is a haven for five-star hotels, each boasting its own secluded beach. The beach here is breathtakingly beautiful and immaculate, with very few people around. Mac was eager to spend the first two nights lounging in the hotel, then on the beach, and finally by the pool, which made this spot perfect for us.

The room photos are in the last two pictures. The hotel’s swimming pools are equally stunning, with a large main pool and two smaller side pools. There are also plenty of activities to keep guests entertained, such as yoga and strength training classes, all of which can be booked for free. Additionally, there’s a kids’ club for families.

The only minor drawback is the limited dining options nearby, so most of our meals were enjoyed at the hotel, where you can order refreshing drinks and snacks from the pool bar.

For our first dinner, we hopped into a Grab and headed to a renowned Vietnamese restaurant called Bep Cuon, just a 15-minute ride away (photos 10-14). The food was not only delicious but also incredibly affordable. Mac, famished after a day of travel, ordered a generous spread, and the total bill came to around 150 RMB.

According to some reviews, the Vietnamese pancakes weren’t supposed to be a highlight (photo 14), but we were so ravenous and the pancakes were so delectable that we only remembered to take a photo when one was left [LOL]. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Yesterday, we spent the day basking by the pool, and today, we relaxed on the serene beach. This location is conveniently close to the historic Hoi An Ancient Town, and we plan to explore it tonight. For our final night, we’ll be staying at My Khe Beach for a bit more liveliness.

Da Nang is undoubtedly more than just an affordable alternative. If we’re looking for a beach vacation in the future, Da Nang will likely be our top choice.
