Danang is a vibrant beach city, perfect for sipping a refreshing cocktail🍹 while lounging on a beach chair and watching the sunset🌇. After exploring some of the well-known spots, here are my genuine impressions:
🙎🏻♂️The most striking feature of Danang is the abundance of Koreans🇰🇷; Korean shop signs are ubiquitous, and it’s often jokingly referred to as “Little Korea.”
🌊While the beaches in Danang are pleasant, they may not be as breathtaking as you might expect. They feel more like ordinary beaches, perhaps not as stunning as some of the famous ones in China.
🗿For history and culture enthusiasts, the Cham Museum is a must-visit. The statues inside are rich and fascinating, and I highly recommend reading the accompanying texts. Unlike typical museum explanations, these texts often tell intriguing stories that bring the exhibits to life.
🎆One of the highlights of Danang is the spectacular fireworks show every Friday to Sunday. It’s a dazzling display that lasts about half an hour, and it’s clear that a lot of effort and resources have gone into making it impressive! The show starts at 9 PM, but I caught a glimpse of the fireworks at 8:40 PM on my way, so arriving a bit early is a good idea.
It can get quite crowded, and a great spot to watch from is near the Dragon Bridge, where you can even enjoy the view from a motorcycle. If you plan to go, it’s a good idea to double-check the details with locals, as I might have some of the specifics mixed up.
🚣♂️You can easily combine a coconut boat ride and a visit to Hoi An Ancient Town in one day. The coconut boat experience is incredibly fun, almost like a big water party. The boatman will paddle to make the boat spin, and everyone on board sings and dances, creating a lively and exciting atmosphere!
Hoi An Ancient Town is just a 15-minute motorcycle ride away from the coconut boat area. It has a charming, somewhat touristy and commercial vibe, reminiscent of some ancient towns in Yunnan. The French-style small houses are a highlight, but if you’ve visited many ancient towns in China, this place might not be as captivating.
🎠Ba Na Hills: Be sure to check the weather before heading out! When I went, it rained, and I was stuck indoors, which significantly dampened the experience. Personally, I found it less enjoyable than Disneyland, mostly consisting of castle buildings with limited entertainment options. The ticket price is also quite steep. If you’re not particularly interested in taking photos, you might want to skip it.
🍽️For a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend Bao An Macrobiotic, a vegetarian restaurant that comes highly recommended by locals. The plating and taste are both excellent, and I visited several days in a row without any disappointments.
☕️For coffee lovers, there are two standout cafés: 91 Concept Coffee, which has a delightful ambiance. Locals often come here for photo ops, but it’s not overly crowded, and the coffee is delicious! Another gem is Bread & Butter Bakery. A friend who runs a café swears by their Americano, and they offer a wide variety of pastries and breads🥐. Food enthusiasts should definitely give it a try.
