Today, Xiaoyu and I had the most heartwarming adventure at Bodhi Temple, where we spent quality time with the most adorable children! Serendipitously falling on a Sunday, our visit couldn’t have been more perfectly timed. This fulfilling experience was something I’d eagerly anticipated ever since promising Sister Wei I’d come after returning from Sang Island.

Previously nestled at Longquan Tanhua Temple in Dar es Salaam, all the children have now found their new home at the charming Bodhi Temple.

Tucked away from the bustling city center, Bodhi Temple serves as both a spiritual sanctuary and an educational haven. The vibrant school currently nurtures over 100 bright young minds, primarily in kindergarten and elementary levels . Among them are 18 very special children – orphans lovingly adopted by the monks.

These little stars have been mastering Mandarin for 1-3 years, and their progress is astounding! From holding sweet conversations to belting out Chinese songs with perfect pitch , their talents will leave you amazed.

Currently, one dedicated Chinese teacher lights up their world through daily online classes from Monday to Friday. Though our visit was brief, the children’s irresistible charm and playful energy
completely stole our hearts! We’ve already made pinky promises to return soon.

Here’s an exciting opportunity: The temple is welcoming short-term volunteers! If you’re passionate about making a difference, you can assist with online lessons and help these wonderful children with their homework. It’s a chance to create unforgettable memories while contributing to their bright futures!
