After a smooth layover in Zanzibar, I opted for the convenient direct flight from Guangzhou to Tanzania – a smart choice that saved both time and money (though I later had second thoughts when I discovered regional flights only operated tiny propeller planes – not ideal for nervous flyers!).

Catching some shut-eye during the flight, I arrived refreshed in the early morning without any pesky jet lag. Coincidentally, my arrival day marked Eid al-Adha. Walking past the lush green courtyard outside the mosque, I found myself mesmerized by the massive prayer congregation (fun fact: 85% of Zanzibar’s population practices Islam, beginning each day with morning devotions).

While the iconic The Rock seaside restaurant is a must-visit, make sure to explore the charming residential neighborhood behind it – you’ll be greeted by the most delightful, smiling children who’ll brighten your day! For an authentic experience, linger awhile to watch locals go about their daily routines in this picturesque setting.
