The First Day
Even after spending a few days in the vibrant city of Cusco, my body was still struggling to acclimate to the altitude. As I reached the mountains, every breath felt like a deliberate effort. To ease the strain, I began walking at a snail’s pace, carefully syncing my steps with my breathing.

Yet, despite the challenge, the journey was nothing short of breathtaking. The scenery unfolded like a masterpiece, and along the way, I encountered cheerful hiking groups and sturdy horses carrying supplies. Their presence added a lively touch to the otherwise serene landscape, and for a moment, I almost forgot about the thin air tugging at my lungs.

During dinner that evening, an unexpected surprise awaited me. I met a former au pair from Moldova, a small country nestled in Eastern Europe. We had worked together six years prior in China, sharing countless stories and memories during our time there. Back then, we were just two strangers finding common ground in a foreign land.

And now, six years later, fate had brought us together once again—this time on another continent, in the heart of Peru’s majestic mountains. It was as if the universe itself had woven this miraculous reunion into the fabric of my adventure. Haha, what an incredible twist of fate!
