📗: If you’re joining the same tour group (and, by the way, if you’re also visiting Pastoruri Glacier, it’s only 💰25 Sol with an entrance fee of 30 Sol), this is the most budget-friendly option my host recommended. The Laguna 69 hiking tour costs 💰35 Sol (approximately 70 RMB), plus a 30 Sol entrance fee.

If you’re starting from Huaraz, the adventure kicks off at 5:00 am. We stayed in Yungay, so our ride picked us up at 6:30 am on the way. Breakfast is paid for at a local restaurant along the route, while lunch is BYO (bring your own). The drive itself lasts over three hours and takes you to Llanganuco Lake first—a breathtakingly emerald body of water that seems to glow under the morning light.

It was absolutely magical, especially when paired with the golden hues of dawn.

🚶: The hike begins through a lush meadow and continues over two majestic mountains, taking roughly three hours. Picture this: vast green fields stretching as far as the eye can see, towering snow-capped peaks reminiscent of Daocheng Yading, but with a distinctly Peruvian twist. Despite the altitude, I didn’t experience any signs of altitude sickness.

Once we reached Laguna 69, we took an hour-long break by the lake. A quick note—don’t try to emulate those daring foreigners who jump into the lake; swimming in high-altitude waters is incredibly dangerous. They’re just there for the photo op before hopping right back out! The descent took about 2.5 hours, making the entire trek around 14 kilometers and over seven hours of pure adventure.

And guess what? Not only is the destination jaw-dropping, but the journey itself offers stunning views every step of the way. So take your time and soak it all in!
