They say the best way to experience Milford Sound is when it’s pouring with rain, as you get to witness countless waterfalls cascading down from the mountain peaks. I was fortunate enough to see this breathtaking spectacle! Midway through the cruise, four playful dolphins appeared, joyfully following our boat. They would occasionally surface, performing acrobatic rolls and spraying water, a truly enchanting sight!

I opted for the last cruise at 15:55 with Mitre Peak Cruises. The timing offered several advantages: parking was more affordable (only 5 NZD per hour after 3 PM, compared to 10 NZD before), and there were fewer boats on the water, making for a more serene and intimate experience. With a discounted price of just 110 NZD, it was an incredible value for such a memorable adventure!
