If you don’t have much time in Auckland, I personally think there are three places worth visiting in one day!
1. Devonport (Photos 1-7)
The beach next to the wharf and Mount Victoria Park, where you can see more beautiful scenery by climbing the walking stairs. At the top of the mountain, you can overlook the entire Auckland.

If you want to watch the sunset, it’s recommended to take a boat over at 6 PM, as the summer sunset is around 8:30 PM. However, the top of the mountain is under renovation these days, but it doesn’t affect taking photos with benches. You can take a boat to Devonport from the wharf opposite the InterContinental Hotel in the city, with a ferry every 20 minutes.

The round-trip ticket costs 16 NZD, and you can buy tickets with a credit card. If you don’t stay long in Auckland, there’s no need to get a transport card; you can use a credit card with Wi-Fi function directly on the bus. The airport shuttle also requires a separate ticket, which can be paid for with a credit card!

2. Albert Park
The park is in the city and can be reached on foot. It’s not large, but the trees inside are very photogenic! (Photos 8-10)
3. AUCKLAND ART GALLERY (Photos 11-14)
It’s the most worthwhile place to visit in Auckland, right next to Albert Park. You can view exhibitions on three floors for free, including works by masters such as Monet, Dali, Picasso, and Mondrian, mostly displayed on the 1st floor (which is actually the 3rd floor).

You can also buy tickets to see special exhibitions. Recently, there’s an exhibition by the Nordic artist Olafur Eliasson (see my other post with exhibition videos). The adult ticket is 24 NZD and is well worth it! There’s an outdoor garden on the 2nd floor where you can sit and enjoy the quiet and beautiful surroundings!
