Why is Kiyomizu-dera still bursting with crowds on a weekday? [facepalm] The winding uphill path was a sea of people when I visited around 4 PM (just two hours before closing at 6)…

Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka (check out pic 6) were equally packed – no surprise since it’s prime cherry blossom season! [shocked] The historic streets were buzzing with visitors snapping photos under the pink blooms.

At this rate, maybe exploring some quieter temples would be a better idea [lol][lol]. Kyoto has so many hidden gems waiting to be discovered beyond the tourist hotspots!

I totally get why Kiyomizu-dera gets so crowded even on weekdays—it’s absolutely stunning, especially during cherry blossom season. The energy of the place, combined with those beautiful historic streets, just draws everyone in! If I visit again, I’ll definitely try to go earlier in the day to avoid some of the crowds.
