In the darkness, there’s a sense of mystery, as no one knows who stands beside them.
As the sun begins to rise,
the volcano is bathed in a golden glow, its majestic silhouette outlined against the sky.
The gamble on the weather has paid off, and the reward is spectacular!
Morning light and mist create a mesmerizing scene,
and everyone on the mountain top can’t help but exclaim, “Wow——”
The view I’ve seen countless times in photos
suddenly comes to life, overwhelming me with its beauty.

If you want to make the most of this experience, here are some tips:
1️⃣ Replenish your energy in advance:
I stayed in the heart of Surabaya, and to reach Bromo, we had to leave the hotel at 23:30. The journey is long; we arrived at the transfer point at 1 AM, switched to a jeep, and reached a small shop near the viewing platform around 3 AM.
We started our ascent at 4 AM to catch the 5 AM sunrise, essentially staying up all night. The viewing platform is just a few minutes away from the shop, but the high altitude requires a bit of physical endurance.
2️⃣ Have the right mindset:
You might think it’s tough, with hiking and climbing, but if you approach this trip as a sacred ritual of trekking and exploring the earth, it can be incredibly rewarding.
Beautiful scenery is often found far from the city’s hustle and bustle, so conditions will naturally be more rugged and challenging.
3️⃣ Bring the right gear:
The temperature at Bromo can vary significantly before and after the sunrise, with a cool and comfortable climate post-sunrise.

Our guide was phenomenal, steering us away from the crowded crooked tree and leading us to another mountain top, just a 5-minute walk away, where we had the place almost to ourselves.
The view was even more breathtaking, and during the trip, he helped us find perfect spots for taking stunning photos 🫶🏻🫶🏻
