Today, I’m all set to embark on a train journey from Jakarta to Yogyakarta!

🚉 I snagged the tickets in advance through Traveloka. For two people, the most budget-friendly seats cost 644k, and the trip will take around 8 hours. The train seats are surprisingly cozy, with ample space to store luggage overhead. Just a heads up: the air conditioning is quite chilly! If you tend to get cold easily, it’s a good idea to bring an extra layer [smack R]. A Grab ride from the hostel to the train station was a mere 31k.

🍽️ Food:
🍗 We started our culinary adventure at CFC at the train station, where we enjoyed a delicious meal for just 85k, complete with air conditioning! The fried chicken dusted with cheese powder was absolutely divine [golden potato R]. It seems that pairing fried chicken with rice is a local favorite here.

🍜 Upon arriving in Yogyakarta, we wandered the streets and stumbled upon a roadside stall serving meatball noodles. With a refreshing glass of orange juice, the total came to just 30k. The affordability here is truly heartwarming!!
🍚 On our way back to the hotel, we discovered another culinary gem: rice soaked in savory soup, topped with tender chicken feet.

The chicken feet were incredibly flavorful and soft. Paired with a creamy Thai milk tea, this delightful meal was also just 30k.

🏨 Our homestay in Yogyakarta is a charming 15-minute walk from Malioboro Street, and the courtyard is simply enchanting! The room is spacious and even comes with a comfortable sofa🛋️. I booked two different room types for our two-day stay, but the owner kindly upgraded us to the better room both nights [party R].

Yogyakarta exudes a laid-back, welcoming vibe. The streets are lined with small, bustling stalls, making it a perfect place to stroll and soak in the local atmosphere.

I’ve been eyeing those Trainoka deals too! The aircon does sound brutal though—good tip about bringing an extra layer. I’d totally recommend starting your Yogyakarta trip with a visit to Borobudur at sunrise if you have time. Safe travels and enjoy exploring!
I totally agree that Yogyakarta is packed with amazing attractions! The way you described the train journey makes me want to visit too—those cozy seats sound perfect for a long trip. Have you tried any must-try local foods while you were there? I’m curious about the food scene.
