π²πΎI’m on another solo trip π This time, the destinations are Sewu Waterfall + Bromo Volcano π + Ijen Sulfur Springs, but the main focus of this note is a little interlude on the way β€οΈ

π Rainbow Village / Kampung Warna π
Many people say that the Rainbow Village is not worth visiting, but once you know the story behind it, I think it’s a different experience.
The Rainbow Village used to be a slum, a village lacking in living conditions. The local government once asked the residents to move, but a group of college students proposed to inject some color into this village, thus changing its fate.

These students, along with about 30 local artists, carried out a series of beautification projects, painting each house with bright colors, leaving artistic traces on every wall and every brick, which led to the colorful village bustling with people today.
There is a glass bridge connecting the two villages on either side of the river.

Next to the Rainbow Village is Kampung Biru, the Blue Village. According to locals, it’s because the people there really like soccer β½, and many soccer players have come from there, so the entire village design is related to soccer and the color blue.

While walking through the small alleys of the village, a few local children even ran out to greet me and give me high fives π. The villagers also gave me some handmade gifts like keychains and stickers, making this place so full of love β€οΈ

That Rainbow Village sounds like such a cool spot! I can see why knowing its story would make it more meaningful, even if some people dismiss it. I’d definitely stop there myselfβit adds a nice touch to the Bromo journey.
