How can you resist the charm of these picture-perfect snow-capped cottages when exploring Hokkaido?

Welcome to Bibai—a hidden gem of a town where time seems to stand still.
The streets unfold like a winter wonderland, peacefully empty with no crowds or traffic—just endless rows of charming houses, each wearing a thick white blanket of snow.
A quick JR line ride from Sapporo brings you straight to this tranquil escape.

Compact and walkable, Bibai invites you to wander freely the moment you step off the train. While there aren’t major tourist attractions, the serene atmosphere makes it ideal for slow travel and discovering hidden beauty.

Our visit treated us to nature’s whims—one moment bathed in sunshine, the next dancing in snow flurries, with playful winds joining the mix.
Though many shops were closed, we discovered a culinary treasure: Shuraku sushi restaurant.
Their P14 set meal (about 150 RMB) delivers incredible value with generous portions. Don’t miss their crispy fried pork loin—it’s absolutely mouthwatering!

The journey’s highlight? Stumbling upon a magical shrine complex. Towering snow-dusted pines framed the traditional Japanese architecture, while swirling snowflakes created a scene straight from a fairy tale—pure winter magic.

The description of Bibai sounds absolutely magical! I love how the snow adds such a cozy and quaint feel to the town. Those milk foam cottages sound like the perfect blend of adorable and delicious. I’d definitely make this a priority if I ever visit Hokkaido.
