Why didn’t I visit Fukuoka sooner? This hidden gem offers the perfect blend of culture and relaxation!

✈️ Getting around is a breeze – just 30 minutes by bus from the airport to downtown, making it incredibly convenient for travelers.
🫠 September brings warm weather, so we escaped the heat with cultural indoor adventures. The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum was interesting, but the Fukuoka City Museum truly stole our hearts.

Its prime location beside Ohori Park creates the perfect combo – explore fascinating exhibits, then unwind on a park bench soaking in the gentle breeze. Don’t miss the Instagram-worthy photo op with Yayoi Kusama’s iconic pumpkin sculpture (check out P7)!
🚇 For an unforgettable experience, set your sights on Itoshima.

Our journey began at Ocean House, a charming seaside eatery (pro tip: reserve via Google Maps). We initially thought the stunning white torii gate and Palm Beach were nearby, but discovered they required a separate adventure – absolutely worth the trip though!
📍 Transportation made easy: For Ocean House, take JR to Imajuku Station (15 min walk).

For the breathtaking torii gate and Palm Beach, ride JR to Kyudai-Gakken-Toshi Station, then catch bus 5B-2 (29 stops). Time it right to catch the last bus at 18:40 – perfect for golden hour photos as the sun dips below the horizon!

I totally get why Fukuoka is such a hidden gem now! The convenience of getting around and those museums sound amazing. Next time I visit Japan, I’ll make sure to spend more time there. It’s great to hear about the cultural experiences even in warmer weather.
Fukuoka sounds amazing! I had no idea it had such great museums and was so easy to get around. I might need to add it to my Japan travel list now. The combination of culture and relaxation is exactly what I look for in a trip.
