1. Avoid mentioning Pablo Escobar in front of locals ❗️ While you might notice plenty of vendors selling memorabilia related to him in Medellín’s District 13, the truth is, many locals aren’t fond of discussing him. This is why I highly recommend joining a city tour of Medellín—your guide will explain how Colombians perceive that tumultuous chapter of their history.

Fascinatingly, our guide mentioned she would only say Pablo Escobar’s name once and then refer to him as “this guy” or “that person.”

2. Colombian women are renowned for their curvy figures, a testament to their genetic gifts. But did you know Colombia also ranks among the world leaders in plastic surgery? [wink]

3. From Mexico through Central America to Colombia, it’s clear that Colombian men possess a certain charm. However, I noticed they seem to have a thing for ear piercings, which initially led me to think they were all part of the LGBTQ+ community 🌈. Eventually, I realized it was just a fashion trend.

5. To be honest, living, eating, and traveling here isn’t as budget-friendly as one might expect. That said, there are two surprisingly affordable activities: private salsa lessons and Pilates classes. If you’re interested, this is your chance to take advantage of some great value! [smug face]

6. Schools here still have morning exercises, but unlike what we experienced growing up, students start dancing salsa and reggaeton from an early age—it’s absolutely delightful 😄. No wonder they exude such natural Latin rhythm!

7. Regardless of how revealing their tops may be, women almost always pair them with long pants, showcasing their curves 🍼 while keeping their legs covered 🦵.

8. The cuisine in Colombia leaves much to be desired—it’s predominantly meat-based, with hamburger joints and barbecue spots seemingly on every corner.
9. Beyond Bogotá and Medellín, Salento and Nevado del Ruiz are two places I can’t recommend enough. The road trip to the latter volcano is particularly breathtaking 👍.
