Medellin Travelogue: Exploring Hidden Gems in Colombia (Part 1)

Because of the character limit, this verbose king has split the Medellin travelogue into two parts. The first part dives into how to have an unforgettable time [Praise R], while the second part covers eating, accommodation, and transportation [Smug R].

🌟 Play:
[Selfie R] Day 1: “Comuna 13 District City Walk” – Highly recommend Zippy Tour’s free walking tour! The guide, a local with fluent English, shares fascinating insights about each iconic location based on personal experiences. A self-guided walk might leave you snapping pictures at landmarks and calling it a day, but the stories from the guide make the entire experience much richer!

Since the tour is free, tipping afterward is appreciated (though not mandatory). Personally, I suggest tipping over 50k pesos—it’s absolutely worth more than what you pay!
(P.S. The check-in spot on P3 charges 10k pesos per person for a dedicated staff photographer. Cameras aren’t allowed, but don’t worry—the staff’s professional skills ensure stunning shots!

[Selfie R] Day 2: “Guatapé One-Day Tour” – Again, Zippy Tour’s group tour shines through! The experience was fantastic—109k pesos per person, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, pick-up, and drop-off. Our group had around 15 people; besides my sister and me, most were Spanish-speaking locals from Colombia and neighboring countries, all incredibly friendly (even though we didn’t share a language).

(P.S. Mountain climbing tickets are extra. The view from the top is breathtakingly photogenic, but the climb can be tough, especially the descent—watch out for narrow steps!)

[Selfie R] Day 3: “Museum of Antioquia – Plaza Botero” – For 40k pesos per person, the museum is vast, spanning three floors with 2-3 exhibition halls on each. My favorite spots? The collection hall and Botero’s own hall on the third floor. Outside, Botero Square greets visitors with its iconic chubby sculptures perfect for memorable check-ins.

About clubbing [Smug R], it deserves a special mention! In one night, we hopped between several disco clubs and nightclubs—an indescribable adventure. Later, a local friend suggested that for real fun, head to places marked as “dance clubs”—they’re where the magic happens!
