25 Amazing Summer Getaways: A Family Road Trip Across the US!
We’re planning an unforgettable summer adventure, setting off at the end of June or the beginning of July. Our family already has US visas, and with our 10-year-old boy in tow, we’ll be embarking on a self-drive journey that’s expected to last 4 to 6 weeks.
The tentative route will take us from Los Angeles to San Diego, then onward to Las Vegas, followed by a stunning detour through the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. To cap it all off, we’d like our child to enjoy 1-2 weeks of summer school before heading back home.
I’m a seasoned driver with no qualms about long hours behind the wheel, and I can comfortably communicate in basic English. We’ve done this before—self-driving across the US—and both my son and I are easygoing travelers who love soaking up new experiences. [Laughing] Our schedule is flexible, so there’s no rush to tick off every spot on the map. This isn’t a luxury getaway, nor are we sticking to a strict budget; instead, it’s all about making memories over an extended period.
Ideally, we’d love to find a travel buddy for our son—preferably around his age—who could join us for the entire trip or even just part of it. Flights haven’t been booked yet, so there’s plenty of room to adjust the itinerary and timing as needed. [Shy] Let’s make this road trip one to remember!
