Perched above Bogotá, Monserrate Mountain 🌄 is crowned by a stunning church ⛪️ and revered as a sacred religious destination. According to local legend, the deity of Monserrate holds extraordinary powers: if a couple visits the church at the summit and one partner isn’t meant to be, their relationship will dissolve shortly after descending the mountain.

Taxi drop-off point: Taquilla Teleférico Monserrate.
To ascend this majestic peak, you have two thrilling options: the cable car 🚠 or the charming little train 🚈. Be sure to check the cable car’s operating hours carefully! Initially, I planned to ride up via the cable car and return by train, but since I arrived a bit late—buying my ticket around 11 AM—the cable car wouldn’t resume operations until 2 PM.

So, I opted for the small train both ways. Alternatively, you can hike the entire route or combine it with a cable car/train ascent followed by a descent on foot.
