Just outside the former residence of Marquez, you’ll find those internet-famous walls that have become iconic in photos 1 and 4. These vibrant spots are must-sees for any visitor eager to soak in the local charm.
The bookstore/coffee shop where Marquez penned his masterpieces can be seen in photo 12. It’s a place where literary history was made, and it remains a hub for book lovers and caffeine enthusiasts alike.
Marquez’s alma mater, along with the touching statue beneath which he and his wife rest, is located on a serene, small campus. As soon as you enter through the gates (photo 5), your eyes will land on the poignant statue (photo 6). To the right, just after stepping inside, lies a modest yet meaningful memorial house.
Here, you’ll encounter personal artifacts—clothes he once wore, chairs he sat upon while lost in thought, and even his original university enrollment papers—all showcased in photos 7-10.
About a kilometer from the university lies Centennial Park, a veritable wonderland teeming with fascinating creatures like sloths, palm-sized monkeys, lizards, and more. Photo 3 captures the exact spot where I encountered these delightful animals during my visit. However, keep in mind that wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.
