I began longing for it even before I had left.
At first, I assumed it was just another seaside town, but the longer I stayed, the harder it became to imagine leaving.
I initially planned a one-week stay, but ended up extending my visit to an entire month (costing me around 3,000 RMB).
Every day, I went snorkeling. From being unable to swim, I gradually gained confidence and eventually managed to swim solo from Eel Garden all the way to the lighthouse—a journey that took nearly two hours, filled with swimming and capturing unforgettable moments on camera.

While Chinese cuisine may be pricier, it caters perfectly to those craving familiar flavors. On the other hand, Egyptian dishes are budget-friendly and some truly delightful.
[Two Arrow] If you’re passionate about exploring vibrant coral reefs, head to the lighthouse or the nearby island. Both spots offer stunning views accessible via snorkeling—and best of all, they’re free public beaches.
The lighthouse lies along the main street, just steps away from the shore. Just beneath the water’s surface, a breathtaking coral cliff awaits. As you swim alongside this underwater marvel, the higher you ascend, the more spectacular the scenery becomes.
[Three Arrow] The island, located roughly five kilometers from the town center, boasts Dahab’s most dazzling coral reefs. Bursting with color, teeming with marine life, and occasionally visited by sea turtles, it’s a diver’s paradise.
A taxi ride to the island costs between 50-100 Egyptian pounds. Once there, you’ll discover why it’s considered one of the crown jewels of Dahab’s underwater world.
[Four Arrow] A single dive in Dahab typically ranges from 25-35 USD, while obtaining your PADI Open Water certification can cost anywhere from 300-450 euros, depending on the dive shop. Entry to the iconic Blue Hole will set you back 10 USD.
[Five Arrow] Nature enthusiasts mustn’t miss out on the mesmerizing White Canyon and Colored Canyon. These excursions, priced at 1,000-1,200 Egyptian pounds per person (including lunch), promise awe-inspiring landscapes carved by time and wind.
[Six Arrow] For a unique experience, try horseback riding along Dahab’s shoreline. At 400 Egyptian pounds per hour, it’s an affordable way to connect with nature. Additionally, consider activities like rock climbing and desert off-roading for further adventure.
[Seven Arrow] Should you prefer relaxation over activity, simply find a cozy café on the main street overlooking the beach. Spend your afternoon sipping coffee, watching the waves roll in, and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.
[Eight Arrow] Dahab is brimming with hidden gem shops perfect for souvenir hunters. Don’t miss them if you enjoy bringing home mementos. I personally purchased a few exquisitely crafted handmade bags that continue to dazzle me.
Dahab’s enchantment runs deep, and despite spending an entire month there, I still found myself reluctant to depart.
