We arrived in Los Angeles with both the original and translated copies of our driver’s licenses, having already selected a rental car company and model through the Zuzuche platform. It’s important to note that each rental company operates different shuttles, so be sure to check the vehicle markings before boarding. Once at the rental office, we completed the necessary paperwork and picked up our BMW X5 from SIXT, opting for full insurance coverage arranged via Zuzuche.
At the counter, we also added an Epass for an extra $220, which proved convenient for toll roads. If you’re planning a shorter trip or expect minimal tolls, this might not be essential. However, since our journey spanned the country from east to west, the Epass was a practical choice. The BMW X5 we rented was nearly brand-new, with only 6,000 miles on the odometer, though it had a minor scratch on the front bumper.
The staff assured us this detail was documented in an email, so we set off without any concerns.
When we reached Missouri, the car signaled that it required maintenance. At the SIXT branch in Kansas City airport, we exchanged it for a sleek BMW X6. This ensured our road trip continued smoothly. Finally, upon returning to Los Angeles, we dropped off the car without any complications, bringing our seamless driving experience to a perfect close.
