“The Buddha’s Palm” Chile truly earns its reputation as the longest and narrowest country in the world. Departing from Santiago, the vibrant capital of Chile, our journey began with a non-stop drive, rotating shifts among three determined travelers. After an arduous 15-hour trek, we finally arrived at the awe-inspiring Hand in the Desert, nestled in the vast expanse of the Atacama Desert in northern Chile.
It was already 2:30 AM, and the sky was a breathtaking canvas, with the Milky Way stretching majestically over the towering hand. The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds were just beginning to peek over the horizon, adding a touch of celestial magic to the scene. Captured with a Sony a7r3, specially modified for astrophotography, and paired with a 14mm f1.
