In the breathtaking Patagonian plateau of South America, Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park stands as a world-class hiking haven, boasting snow-capped mountains, glaciers, shimmering lakes, and vast grasslands. A family of three embarked on an adventure, opting to rent a pickup truck from Punta Arenas airport.

The choice of a pickup was both practical and economical, as it cost less than half the price of an SUV and came with a manual transmission. Their journey took them from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales, where they refueled and stocked up on supplies, before heading to Torres del Paine. They entered the park from the west and exited from the east, spending two enchanting nights at Lodge Morrena.

After their stay, they returned to Puerto Natales for one night before making their way back to Punta Arenas.

The landscapes were awe-inspiring, with strong winds adding to the dramatic atmosphere. While the flamingos 🦩 gracefully took flight, herds of llamas provided a charming and unexpected sight.

Lodge Morrena offered a spacious four-person room, equipped with two single beds and a bunk bed, providing more room than a standard accommodation. Although the facilities were somewhat basic, with tap water that was always tinged yellow, the common area was exceptionally comfortable. The nightly rate of 3000 RMB was offset by the delightful experience, especially the delicious steaks in the restaurant, which, at around 300 RMB per person, were a culinary highlight within the scenic area.
