In São Paulo, getting around mostly revolves around taking taxis. Since I wasn’t familiar with the city, I started by using Uber. However, despite the sweltering heat of 34–35 degrees, an astonishing 90% of the drivers refused to turn on the air conditioning. Whenever I brought it up, all I received was a string of indecipherable Portuguese, and, unsurprisingly, the air conditioning stayed off. Taxis, though slightly pricier, at least offered a refreshing blast of cool air.

The sightseeing routes were inspired by recommendations from numerous Xiaohongshu bloggers, and they truly didn’t disappoint—each location was absolutely worth the visit. The world’s 1000th McDonald’s is a must-try; the food is nothing short of delightful. If your schedule happens to fall on a Tuesday, you can explore the São Paulo Museum of Art for free. I attempted to sneak into the university grounds to catch a glimpse of the capybaras, but unfortunately, my mission ended in failure.
