1️⃣ Location: Kǎolǎo Mountain, Cixi
Head to the Shanglin Lake parking lot 🅿️ in the scenic Kǎolǎo Mountain area. You’ll find two options here—choose between the official parking lot, which is pricier, or a private one on the side for just 5 yuan on weekdays. Both are conveniently located right at the entrance, saving you time and hassle.

The parking area also offers a variety of supplies, including refreshing drinks, water, tea eggs, tofu skewers, sweet potatoes, and even roasted potatoes. Plus, there are restrooms available for your convenience.

2️⃣ Trail:
Kǎolǎo Mountain boasts an intricate network of trails through its Six Footprints and Two Steps Road system, offering both large and small loop options. Depending on your fitness level and how much time you have that day, pick a trail that suits your needs. If loops aren’t your thing, take the ancient path straight to the summit—it’s about an hour’s climb.

Along the way, you’ll pass by a stunning waterfall before encountering cement steps. After climbing these steps, keep an eye out for a dirt trail branching off to the left, leading directly up the mountain. From here, it’s roughly another half-hour hike to the breathtaking peak.

3️⃣ Tips:
Spring in Ningbo is fleeting, and once the sun makes an appearance, summer-like temperatures can quickly set in. Much of this trail exposes hikers to direct sunlight, so don’t forget to pack proper sun protection gear—think hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses—to ensure a comfortable journey.
