I finally made it to Iguazu. On that day, a profound sadness washed over me because I had always imagined two people standing together beneath this majestic waterfall.

Traveling alone, this thought seemed so fittingly bittersweet.

It’s highly recommended to purchase your tickets online in advance to avoid long queues. Along the way, I intended to buy them but discovered that my Claro card, purchased in Buenos Aires, had no signal. Initially, I planned to secure the boat ride tickets online, but the night before, I noticed only three time slots were available in the morning, with two already fully booked.

The following morning, the official website displayed afternoon slots, yet they too were completely filled, leaving no room for availability. At this point, don’t lose hope—once you enter the park and walk about a hundred meters, you’ll arrive at the ticket counter for the boat rides. The staff informed me there was just one spot left at 11:30.

With only half an hour remaining, I didn’t have enough time to explore the trails, so I decided to prioritize the boat ride. A car journey through the jungle awaited, though it was over twenty minutes late. Thankfully, life jackets and waterproof bags were provided. Around midday in mid-September, the temperature hovered around 25 degrees Celsius, and being drenched by the cascading waterfall was both exhilarating and chilly.

The wind from the boat was strong, yet under the blazing sun, it wasn’t overly cold, and I dried off quickly. After the thrilling ride, remember your boat number, as you can purchase photos and videos for 10k. After changing into dry clothes, I returned via the car, arriving back around 2 PM. Nearby, there’s a restaurant called Fortin, offering lockers to store small bags for 1,000 per hour.

Stowing away my wet garments made me feel significantly lighter.

The iconic Devil’s Throat has reopened, accessible by a short train ride followed by a two-kilometer trail. The staff informed me the train would arrive at 2:30, ten minutes later than expected. However, it ended up being delayed by nearly half an hour. Consequently, I endured a lengthy wait for the return trip, leaving no time to explore any other trails.

The official website also offers a mesmerizing full moon night tour of the waterfall. Although I visited during the Mid-Autumn Festival, unfortunately, tickets were only available for October. If you’re intrigued, be sure to plan well in advance.
