On the Argentine side, visitors can explore the falls via multiple trails, offering the chance to stand mere steps away from the awe-inspiring “Devil’s Throat.” The park provides an array of adventure activities, immersing you in the exhilarating mist that surrounds this natural marvel.

We set off northward from Gramado in southern Brazil, settling into a hotel in Foz do Iguacu. There are several tips to keep in mind for a seamless visit.

☝️ We opted to purchase tickets through our hotel (many hotels offer this service—just inquire), sidestepping long lines at the ticket counter. The hotel staff provided valuable insights into navigating the expansive park—a move I highly recommend. Surprisingly, the price was even lower than at the ticket office 😂 In peak season, it cost 120 reais per person, with full fare for children aged 7 and older, while those under 7 entered free.

For the thrilling boat ride near the falls, it was 365 reais per person, with half-price tickets for those 7 and older, and free access for younger kids.

☝️ If driving, park in the lot adjacent to the park for 60 reais per day.

☝️ Bring ample water and snacks if traveling with children, as there’s virtually no regular food available while waiting in line for the boat ride 🥹 You’ll need to wait until the bus reaches the final stretch of the waterfall trail to find a large restaurant.

☝️ Don’t forget sunscreen during summer!

☝️ The process goes like this: queue to enter the park, board the shuttle bus, first stop for the boat ride near the falls, second stop for a smaller trail, and third stop at the Devil’s Throat.

☝️ Should you prioritize the boat ride or the main waterfall group? Based on our experience during peak season, we strongly advise visiting the waterfall group first. It’s rumored that over ten thousand people enter the park daily, and Brazil’s reputation for organization—or lack thereof—is well-known.

Even if buses aren’t fully loaded, they still depart, leaving behind long queues… The boat ride involves transferring across four different modes of transport, each with its own lengthy line. This truly takes about 4 hours, which can be grueling for parents with young children. Such delays might mean that by the time you reach the falls, the trails, which close at 5:30 PM, are already off-limits.

For the exhilarating boat ride into the heart of the falls, don’t forget to pack a lightweight raincoat—it’s an absolute game-changer! If capturing memories underwater is on your agenda, bring along a waterproof phone case. Trust me, I skipped this step, and I deeply regretted it later. The ride guarantees a full-body soaking, but anything under your trusty raincoat will stay snug and dry. On-site, you’ll find storage lockers for your belongings at just 20 reais per box.

If you’re traveling with kids, secure a spot in the back row for their comfort. But if you’re craving pure adrenaline, claim a front-row seat for the ultimate thrill! Regardless of where you choose to sit, prepare yourself—the powerful waterfall spray will leave everyone equally drenched. It’s an invigorating adventure like no other! Don’t miss out—this is one experience you won’t forget!

That about sums it up! I hope everyone enjoys every splash-filled moment!
