Don’t be fooled by the clickbait title—yes, I was just a temp worker at KWAI! But let me tell you, after spending over three months in São Paulo, I stumbled upon the absolute best market to visit! It’s brimming with treasures that are way more unique than your typical Yiwu imports. Think loads of original designs, small artisanal items, and so much creativity—it makes many second-hand markets I’ve seen feel downright bland in comparison.

The mastermind behind this gem? An art-focused shop called El Cabriton (IG: elcabriton), which is all about helping artists “escape poverty.” Before wrapping up my stint there, I treated myself to an absolutely striking yellow printed shirt from their store. Not only can you pick your size, but they’ll customize the print right in front of you!

This street also boasts plenty of authentic Brazilian eateries, plus the shop itself has an LGBT-friendly bar where everyone feels welcome. And here’s the kicker—the market happens irregularly, with the next one not until March of next year 😭

Of course, there’s a downside: I ended up splurging 350 reais out of the 550 I earned [crying emoji], but hey, I’m still super grateful to my former employer KWAI for giving me such a laid-back and fun part-time gig kkkk 😘
