By the end of November 2024, my first overseas adventure took me to São Paulo, Brazil. By December’s close, after an intense hunt for a place, countless negotiations with real estate agents, and purchasing essential supplies, I finally secured a cozy home base.

Location: Rua Engenheiro Mesquita Sampaio, Vila São Francisco
Rent: R$ 5000 (at an exchange rate of 1.2, roughly equivalent to 6000 RMB)
Amenities: A fully furnished apartment, complete with a gym, swimming pool, and a charming courtyard perfect for family gatherings—all within a secure apartment complex offering round-the-clock protection.

Unfortunately, Brazil’s security situation leaves much to be desired, and holidays often see a spike in criminal activity. I urge everyone to avoid using their phones while walking on the streets and to opt for taxis whenever traveling at night or alone. Life in São Paulo comes with a hefty price tag, and online shopping isn’t as convenient as back home. The experience here is undeniably different, so it’s all about making the most of it.

Work hard, save diligently, and aim to return home sooner rather than later!
