Even before we embarked on our journey, I had already picked up some tips about navigating Brazil. On the plane, I met an elderly woman from São Paulo who kindly warned us against flaunting our phones on the streets and urged us to stay cautious. The Uber driver echoed her advice shortly after we landed.

And if that wasn’t enough, even China Unicom’s welcome message hinted at Brazil’s “average” security situation—though we all know what “average” really means in this context. Recently, perhaps due to a major exhibition in town, there are police officers stationed every few steps along Paulista Avenue, adding a sense of security.

Still, for the remainder of our trip, vigilance will remain our top priority.
