Journey to Ushuaia: 30 Hours of Travel, Lighthouse Sightseeing, and Homecoming Adventure

Does the end of the world have to be Ushuaia? Can’t those remote, snow-covered corners of the globe, the farthest edges of islands, and the tips of continents also be considered the end of the world? After all, there is the vast Antarctic continent just across from Ushuaia.
Yet, only Ushuaia holds such a captivating allure.

Starting from Beijing, it takes a 30-hour journey, traversing Asia and Africa, crossing the equator, and soaring over the Atlantic, to finally reach Ushuaia.
From Ushuaia, it’s just a one-hour boat ride to the lighthouse featured in “Happy Together.” This spot is a pilgrimage for Wong Kar-wai fans, where they can leave behind their sorrows and grievances.

The sounds of seagulls, ship engines, waves, and the cheers of fellow tourists blend together, drowning out the whirring noise on the tape. As you sit on the deck, gazing at the lighthouse, do you feel an inexplicable sense of homesickness?
Tomorrow, I will return to Chengdu.

Wow, that 30-hour journey sounds intense but totally worth it for the experience! The lighthouse and the sense of being at “the end of the world” must feel surreal, especially with Antarctica so close by.

Ushuaia really feels like the edge of the world! The 30-hour journey sounds intense but totally worth it for that lighthouse view and the adventure. I’d love to see if the feeling changes when visiting other remote places too.
