Why I’m Booking This Same Paris Homestay Again: Authentic Local Experience & Budget-Friendly Stay Tips
🏨 Only 400 RMB per person per night—right in the heart of the city!
At first, I browsed Booking.com, but everything was either overpriced or poorly located. Since we were two girls traveling together, safety was our top priority. That’s when we turned to Xiaohongshu for inspiration—and what a lucky find! Not only was the price reasonable, but the location couldn’t have been better.
The homestay is managed by a warm-hearted Chinese auntie. When she found out we were two students, she kindly offered us a discount—originally 130 RMB per night, she lowered it to just 110! We stayed for four nights, totaling 440 RMB, which came out to only 220 RMB per person.
The room was spotless and cozy. When we arrived, the auntie was still freshening up the space for us. It felt spacious, secure, and perfectly situated—just a short walk from the beautiful Tuileries Garden and within easy reach of landmarks like the Arc de Triomphe.
We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities: the kitchen came fully equipped with pots, bowls, spoons, and a wide range of seasonings, making it easy to whip up our own meals. There was even a washing machine—so convenient! And the bedding? Unbelievably soft and comfortable, nothing like the stiff hotel sheets. It truly felt like a home away from home.
The auntie went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Initially cautious about scams, we were quickly put at ease by her patience and warmth. On our first evening, she asked about our food preferences and pointed us to some incredible Chinese restaurants (they did not disappoint!). She also gave helpful tips on getting around the city.
On checkout day, since our flight wasn’t until the afternoon, she generously let us leave our luggage in the room for a few extra hours—such a thoughtful gesture!
Let’s be real—Paris isn’t cheap. But platforms like Xiaohongshu can be a lifesaver for budget-savvy travelers, especially students looking to stretch their money. Just remember to stay alert and verify listings to avoid scams.
After sharing my experience earlier, I received quite a few DMs asking about this homestay. So here’s my full review—hope it helps you find a cozy and affordable stay in Paris too!
The homestay’s central location made it easy to explore Paris without breaking the bank. A local host added a personal touch that felt genuine. It’s smart to prioritize safety and affordability when traveling. Small details like that make a big difference.
