Experience the Natural Cold Shower under Iguazu Falls in South America

Super-detailed guide ahead!
In my last post, I dived into the food, drinks, and vibrant energy of Buenos Aires 🩵. After a brief stay in this bustling city, we set off for Iguazu Falls—the iconic filming location of “Happy Together.” With hiking being the highlight of our trip, my friend and I decided to condense our Iguazu adventure into just one unforgettable day and night. Surprisingly, exploring only the Argentine side of the falls was more than enough to leave us in awe!

🗺️ Route (check the map in the last image)
1. Upon entering the park, make your way to the Cataratas Station first to grab your train ticket. Trains run every 15-30 minutes directly to the Devil’s Throat section.
2. Board the train (a scenic 20-30 minute ride) and disembark at the entrance to Devil’s Throat.

Follow the crowd as you approach the breathtaking Devil’s Throat waterfall. The mist here is so intense it feels like standing in a heavy downpour—haha! Quick-dry clothing is a must. Once done marveling, hop back on the train to return to Cataratas Station via the same route.
3. From Cataratas Station, consult the map and follow the signs past the lighthouse and dining area toward Jungle Central.

Since it wasn’t peak season when we visited, buying tickets on-site later in the afternoon worked perfectly fine.
4. After purchasing your tickets, wait until the group is complete, then board a sightseeing bus for about half an hour. A short 10-15 minute walk down some steps will lead you to the dock.

During the journey, waterproof bags will be handed out to protect your belongings. Once you reach the shore, it’s time to climb aboard the boat and set sail!

‼️ Key Tips
1. Boat tickets can be purchased at any point marked “jungle” within the park. If the main entrance is crowded, don’t worry—you can still buy them inside the park itself.
2. For those looking to truly embrace the raw power of Iguazu, consider skipping the raincoat, especially during the boat ride under the falls.

Raincoats aren’t very effective here; instead, opt for quick-dry clothes/sandals or bring a spare set of dry clothes to change into afterward to avoid catching a chill.
3. When choosing seats on the boat, keep in mind that our boats circled counterclockwise near the falls. This means the right side of the boat offers closer proximity to the cascading water—and expect plenty of splashes!

The disaster zone? That’d be the last row on the right side of the first level, where I sat. Water even spilled onto the deck during sharp turns—what an adventure! 😆
4. For photography enthusiasts aiming for close-up shots of the falls, bringing a waterproof phone case beforehand is highly recommended!
