👋 Hey there, friends! I’m Taomi, and I’ve had the incredible fortune of visiting 183 countries around the globe.

🏠 Barichara is often hailed as Colombia’s most beautiful town. Sure, it’s lovely—but let’s be honest, it’s not *quite* as breathtaking as some might claim.

[One] Is it worth a visit?
▶️ If your time is tight and it’s off the beaten path, consider skipping it for Salento instead. After all, Salento offers the stunning Cocora Valley and the world’s tallest wax palm trees—now that’s something unforgettable!
▶️ But if this is your second trip to Colombia, Barichara is on your route, and the timing works out? A quick day trip will do just fine!
[Two] How long should you stay?
▶️ If you adore laid-back towns with a slow pace, spending one night here could be delightful.
▶️ Otherwise, 2-4 hours is plenty to stroll through its charming streets and take in the sights.
[Three] Where exactly is Barichara?
📍 It’s nestled 20 kilometers northwest of San Gil.
San Gil serves as a transport hub, with buses connecting to Bogotá, Tunja, Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, and beyond. Traveling between these cities takes over five hours, so don’t forget to bundle up—the air conditioning on those nighttime buses can get downright chilly!
