[Private message R] Before Your Trip Abroad
1. If you’re eligible for a US visa waiver, securing a Colombian visa requires just as much preparation and can be equally challenging.
2. Be sure to exchange your currency for Colombian pesos; the region is relatively underdeveloped, and many places don’t accept credit cards.

3. The yellow fever vaccine is mandatory 💉, while the dengue fever vaccine is optional. You must get vaccinated 10-12 days before arrival — this is commonly referred to as the “little yellow book.” Without it, you won’t be allowed entry.
4. If you don’t speak Spanish, download a reliable translation app before you go.

English isn’t widely spoken here, much like in a smaller Chinese city.

[Like R] Staying Safe
1. Always keep an eye on yourself and your belongings. Avoid going out at night; there are many homeless individuals, and theft is common. During the day, keep your phone and bag close, and try not to dress too extravagantly, as this could attract unwanted attention.

[Camping light R] Medellin: A Haven of Green
The weather and environment in Medellin are delightful, with lush greenery covering much of the city. The climate is pleasant year-round, making it feel incredibly livable and inviting.

[Fishing hat R] Bogota: A City of Contrasts
Bogota boasts a unique plateau climate with significant temperature fluctuations. The city feels older, with less green space compared to Medellin, giving it a slightly less polished appearance.

[Airplane R] Getting Around:
1. Use Uber or hail a taxi; taxis are quite affordable, but remember to have cash on hand. When giving directions, double-check the address and street numbers carefully — otherwise, a Spanish-speaking driver might misunderstand and take you far off course. They may even seem frustrated 🥹, considering $5-10 is a substantial amount for them.

2. Before flying into Colombia 🇨🇴, make sure to register your personal information in advance via the website shown in Figure 7. Failing to do so could result in denied entry or other complications. It’s best to complete this task on the hotel computer the day before, as the Spanish-language website can be slow and cumbersome to navigate.
