In just a few days, I’ll be embarking on the incredible Lost City Trek and exploring the breathtaking Amazon rainforest. To prepare, I made a special trip to Bogota to get the yellow fever vaccine. It’s an incredibly smooth process—free, efficient, and available right away.

Here’s how it works:
At Bogota BOG Airport T1, head to the second floor and find Gate 5. Look for the gray sign that reads “Punto de Vacunacion,” located directly across from the gate. From there, join the queue at the entrance. A member of the staff will collect your passport, and you’ll simply wait for your number to be called.
Once it’s your turn, proceed to the front desk at Hospital de Fontibon to fill out the necessary information. Afterward, make your way to the Vaccination office, where you’ll receive the vaccine and your official yellow fever vaccination booklet. The entire process takes about an hour—quick and hassle-free!
A few things to keep in mind:
The yellow fever vaccine requires 10 days to become fully effective, so plan accordingly. On the day of the vaccination, you can eat as usual and even take a shower—it’s all good!
As for hours of operation, the office is open daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. One note: the staff primarily speak Spanish, so having some basic phrases or a translation app handy might come in useful.
