As per @HughesH-1’s notes, I managed to get a free yellow fever vaccine in Cartagena. (For me personally, it was barely noticeable—no pain, no soreness in my arm, and absolutely no impact on my travels.)

**Tips for Your Visit:**
1. Masks are mandatory. If you forget yours, don’t worry—security guards sell them for just 1000 pesos.
2. Officially, vaccinations are offered weekdays from 8–11 am. However, during another visit, I noticed someone leaving the health center at 3 pm with their yellow booklet in hand.
If you’re passing by later in the day, it’s worth stopping by to check.
3. Post-vaccination, you’ll need to submit a copy of your passport and the yellow booklet at reception. Conveniently, there’s a small shop across the street where you can make copies quickly.
4. From what I’ve read online, the yellow fever vaccine becomes effective for 80% of people 10 days after vaccination and for 99% within 30 days.
If you’re planning to travel to affected areas, be sure to schedule your shot well in advance for full protection.
5. Once vaccinated, the yellow fever vaccine lasts for 10 years—but do keep your original yellow booklet safe! Lose it, and you’ll have to start over.
6. The staff speak only Spanish, so it’s helpful to learn how to say “yellow fever” in Spanish: **fiebre amarilla**.
