Traveling into Colombia by Land
Cali wasn’t initially part of the plan.
But the infamous Colombian bus delays exceeded all expectations.
What was supposed to be an 11-hour journey stretched into a grueling 17 hours.
Exhausted and in need of rest, we decided to spend the night in Cali.

This city, known as the birthplace of salsa, is more famous for its “danger” than its culture. While traveling through Colombia, staying alert is essential. After dark, wandering aimlessly is strongly discouraged, and locals often remind visitors not to flaunt their phones or cameras while strolling through the streets. Even after dining at a spot across from the hostel, it’s best to retreat quickly to the safety of your room rather than exploring the nighttime streets.

The hostel I stayed at offered salsa lessons on the upper floor, creating a lively atmosphere in the evenings. Despite its reputation, Cali had its own charm—especially when the rhythm of salsa filled the air. [topic]#
