I hopped on a bus to a hidden gem of a local market, Plaza de Mercado Bazurto, where only the true locals shop. Rows of stalls brimmed with aromatic seafood rice, each one more inviting than the last. The warm and enthusiastic vendors, mostly aunties, couldn’t wait to share their creations. With big smiles, they handed me spoonfuls of samples, urging me to taste as many varieties as possible.

Though I initially came for the seafood, after comparing the flavors, I realized nothing quite matches the mastery of seafood dishes from my beloved China. So, I opted for chicken leg rice and lamb chops instead—both were absolutely delightful. The homemade drinks, crafted with fresh fruits like those displayed in vibrant hues and a touch of sugar, were simply irresistible.

The vendors were incredibly friendly; noticing my curiosity, they generously offered small tastes of everything, ensuring I didn’t miss out.

For my next adventure, I visited the Colombia National Aviary (Fundación Aviario Nacional de Colombia). This enchanting sanctuary is home to 170 breathtaking bird species, alongside fascinating reptiles such as lizards. Each corner of the aviary felt like stepping into a different world, alive with color and melody.
