I won’t be covering the usual suspects—accommodations, restaurants, and attractions that others have already raved about. The eateries I share are all places where my friends and I have dined and genuinely enjoyed. Of course, taste is subjective, so if you don’t like them, please don’t hold it against me!

When it comes to sea tours, I don’t particularly recommend Cartagena unless it’s the sole destination on your itinerary. The Caribbean coast boasts countless breathtaking stretches of turquoise water, and there are far more stunning options out there. The tours I’ve tried were fairly standard, and since they didn’t leave a lasting impression, I haven’t included them here.

A friend recently mentioned some remote islands where you can spend peaceful nights under the stars. Once I visit them next time (and if they’re worth the hype), I’ll be sure to share with everyone. Stay tuned by following me for updates!

For sunset views, Baluarte de Santo Domingo reigns supreme. You can catch this mesmerizing spectacle from virtually anywhere along the coastline. However, there’s no beach adjacent to the old city, so your best bet is to perch atop the ancient city walls—a truly unique experience. Local artists often serenade visitors nearby, adding a touch of charm to the moment.

There’s no need to secure a seat at a pricey restaurant or café; simply weave through the crowd, politely asking for space to snap your photos. Afterward, make a beeline back to the old city for dinner before the top spots fill up.
