Here are two essential tips to ensure your experience is smooth and enjoyable:
⭕️ **Trail Options:** The Cocora Valley trails offer both short and long routes to suit every adventurer’s preferences. The short route is a breeze, taking just two hours and offering stunning views without breaking a sweat. On the other hand, the long route spans 12 kilometers and lasts approximately six hours, presenting a more challenging trek.
While some travelers rave about the long trail, I decided to try it after completing the short route. Unfortunately, the scenery along the longer path was relatively underwhelming, with the only highlight being the picturesque farm at the summit. Additionally, the long route costs an extra 8,000 pesos and features rocky sections, shallow streams that can make the path slippery, and extremely narrow areas where you’ll frequently need to yield to oncoming hikers.
In truth, the best parts of the trail are concentrated in the short route, making it the standout choice.
⭕️ **Direction Matters:** When embarking on your hike, keep in mind the importance of direction. Most visitors recommend tackling the trail clockwise, but many mistakenly set off counterclockwise, thinking they’re heading in the right direction. Interestingly, Google Maps clearly labels the counterclockwise path, so be sure to double-check before starting. Refer to Image 11 for clarification. Proper planning ensures you fully enjoy the valley’s natural beauty without unnecessary detours.
