The bus rolled into Huaraz an hour behind schedule, leaving no time to hop on any tours bound for nearby attractions after checking in. Instead, I opted for some altitude acclimatization training on the trail just southeast of Huaraz. Moving from 3000 meters to 3500 meters might not seem like a significant leap, but looking back, it proved to be an exceptionally wise choice.
