The best place for hiking in Peru is in Huaraz
You can plan your route in advance
Bring your gear and join a tour group directly after arriving in Huaraz
A more beginner-level hike is the two lakes I went to this time
Laguna Rocotuyo and Laguna Paron
The average hiking time is around 1-2 hours
But hiking for 1-2 hours at an altitude of 4300+ meters is still challenging

Laguna Rocotuyo has two scenic spots
The first spot is the lake ⛵️
You can see the lake right from where the tour bus stops
Boating on the lake costs 10 sol per person
It’s definitely worth experiencing
The second spot is the glacier 🧊
After about an hour’s hike along the lake, you can reach the glacier
Not far away, there are vast snow-capped mountains 🏔️ It’s breathtaking
