The best place for hiking in Peru is undoubtedly Huaraz. You can plan your route in advance, pack your gear, and join a tour right after arriving in Huaraz. A more beginner-friendly hike is to the two lakes I visited this time: Laguna Rocotuyo and Laguna Paron. The average hiking time is about 1-2 hours, but at an altitude of over 4300 meters, even a short hike can be quite challenging.
Laguna Rocotuyo offers two stunning scenic spots:
1. The Lake ⛵️: You can see the lake right from where the tour bus stops. For just 10 sol per person, you can enjoy a serene boating experience on the lake. It’s truly worth it!
2. The Glacier 🧊: After a 1-hour hike along the lake, you’ll reach the glacier. Nearby, you’ll find vast snow-capped mountains 🏔️ that will take your breath away.
