QueenstownMilford Sound
We booked a unique boat stay through realnz, and it was an unforgettable night spent in the heart of the fjord

Milford Sound truly comes alive on rainy days. The rain transforms the landscape, with countless waterfalls cascading down from the misty mountains, creating a breathtaking spectacle. It’s a sight that will leave you in awe! This was the only rainy day of our trip, and it couldn’t have been more perfectly timed

Staying overnight on the boat is an absolute must!!
-If you’re considering a day trip, be prepared for a long 8-hour round trip.
-Our boat stay included a tour of the majestic fjord waterfalls and the option to go kayaking. Despite the rain, all activities went ahead, and those eager to kayak braved the elements.

-The highlight of staying on the boat is the incredible wildlife encounters! You might get lucky and see playful dolphins
swimming alongside the boat, and at night, seals come out to hunt, sometimes even swimming up to the deck! During our kayaking adventure, we also spotted some adorable forest penguins
!

-That evening, as the rain cleared, we were treated to a stunning starry sky. While not as spectacular as the skies in Tekapo, we still saw a multitude of stars and the Milky Way, making it a magical experience.

Tips:
1. Don’t forget to bring a waterproof jacket; you’ll definitely need it if you plan to kayak in the rain!
2. Pack a small suitcase for your boat stay; the rooms are spacious enough to accommodate it. Remember to include a change of clothes!
3. Book your boat stay well in advance, as spots fill up quickly.
4. Boarding is at 4:00 PM, and disembarkation is at 9:00 AM the next morning.

That sounds like an amazing experience! The rain really did make Milford Sound even more magical with all those waterfalls. I’d love to try a boat stay there someday.
