Traveled to Indonesia for 10 days, and honestly, my planning wasn’t the best, so I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it 😭. Based on my real experiences, I’ll share some practical tips to help fellow travelers prepare in advance and avoid some common pitfalls!

**Trip Summary:**
– D1: Arrival in Surabaya
– D2: Mount Bromo
– D3: Sewu Waterfall
– D4: Ijen Volcano
– D5: Lovina Dolphin Watching
– D6: Ubud
– D7: Uluwatu
– D8: Nusa Penida
– D9-10: Relax at the hotel!

1. **Accommodation Near Mount Bromo:**
The accommodations near Mount Bromo are generally quite basic, but as long as they are clean and comfortable, that’s all you need. The fancy hotel pictures you see online are often far from the volcano village, which can make your already challenging trip even more difficult.

2. **Packing Essentials for Mount Bromo:**
Don’t forget to bring a lined jacket; it gets extremely cold on the mountain in the early morning 🥶. The viewing platform is crowded and dusty, so remember to pack a mask and sunglasses!

3. **Getting to the Volcano:**
Be prepared for a 2-hour drive to the volcano. The road is very narrow and bumpy. If you’re not used to long-distance travel, bring motion sickness medicine to keep you comfortable.

4. **Itinerary Adjustments:**
Many people who visit Indonesia follow similar itineraries. After seeing the volcano, rushing to Bali can be overwhelming, and you might not get to see every attraction. My suggestion is to skip Sewu Waterfall and Ijen, depending on your physical condition and available time.

5. **Sewu Waterfall Tips:**
The park closes at 3 PM! It takes over an hour to hike down the mountain one way, and you need to wade through water😩. You can buy water shoes at the entrance, which will make your trek much easier.
6. **Ijen Volcano Experience:**
Honestly, if the blue fire at Ijen is closed, I don’t recommend going. It’s a 2-hour hike, and besides the blue lake, there’s not much else to see.
7. **Lovina Dolphin Watching:**
It’s indeed lucky to spot dolphins! However, there are many boats, and seeing dolphins is all about luck 😂. Enjoy the experience, but manage your expectations.
8. **Relaxing in Bali:**
After the volcano, you can directly start your vacation mode in Bali!! Don’t stay in a homestay to save money; many homestays are in remote and unclean locations. The bedding, pool, and other hygiene details are really not up to par. We’re here to travel, not to suffer!
9. **Drinking Water in Bali:**
In Bali, only drink bottled water; the water quality is really bad 🙅. The water quality in hotels also varies, and after washing your hair, it feels very dry, so be sure to use conditioner!
**Summary:**
For those who don’t want to go through a tough journey, I really suggest just finding a nice hotel in Bali and relaxing! Enjoy the beach, the sea, take beautiful photos, and have a lovely afternoon tea—doesn’t that sound great?
