Starting from Berastagi, the journey to Lake Toba is a scenic 3-hour drive, with plenty of opportunities to stop and soak in the surroundings. Nestled in the heart of Lake Toba is the enchanting Samosir Island, a true gem waiting to be explored. As we boarded the boat from the pier, we were greeted by enthusiastic locals offering one-day tours, and we couldn’t resist the adventure.
However, after completing the tour, we found that many of the attractions on the itinerary were somewhat underwhelming. A significant portion of the day was spent traveling between sites, and the views along the way, while pleasant, lacked the breathtaking allure we had hoped for.
