On the first day in Penang, I tackled the ascent of Penang Hill (Flagstaff Hill) and was so captivated that I found myself drawn back for another climb before my departure!
This time, venturing solo, a twinge of anxiety about losing my way crept in. But fate had other plans, as I stumbled upon a group of local uncles who were also heading up the mountain.

Initially, my goal was to visit Astro Rock, but with the uncles’ guidance, I discovered NO.39 and Rainbow Rock, each offering breathtaking views that surpassed the last. What a stroke of luck!
⛰️ **Astro Rock**: From here, you can take in the panoramic view of the entire racetrack below, a sight that left me in awe.

⛰️ **No.39**: This charming rest stop not only provides toilets and tea but is also surrounded by lush vegetation. The cityscape, framed by a verdant border, is a picturesque scene that feels like a painting come to life.
⛰️ **Rainbow Rock**: Expecting to see an actual rainbow, I was amused to find that the locals had painted the rocks in vibrant, rainbow colors, giving it its name.

It’s a fantastic spot for capturing memorable photos.
🌟 A special mention goes to Rest Stop No.5. Though it’s at a lower elevation with no sweeping views, it’s a truly unique place!
They offer free tea and local coffee to hikers, which has a peculiar, very sweet taste that I couldn’t quite get used to.

The rest stop also features a variety of exercise machines, and I was impressed to see an elderly man energetically doing bench presses. His vitality was truly inspiring.
💕
My final climb in Penang ended on a perfect note! The mountains of Penang and the warm, enthusiastic uncles I met have left an indelible mark on my heart.

Such a delightful experience, I’m already looking forward to my next climb!
